Why I am a Reluctant Housewife

Okay, well I should clear something up, A and I aren't actually married yet. We've been living in sin for a couple of years and are in no rush to actually tie the knot, much to my mothers chagrin. A and I met in college and still live in our college town in upstate ny with no plans to move anytime soon. A graduated with a degree in computer science and is a software developer for the world health organization. I, on the other hand, am a perpetual student. I have changed my major more times than I can count, I have finally settled on social work, which I love, and am finishing up my last two semesters of college this year. Because the job market is non existent and because A makes so much money, we decided in April that it would be more beneficial for me to stay home and just finish up school while he works full time. I never ever pictured myself staying home even with children, but especially not without any children. I have been a feminist before I even knew what it was. My political musings started in grade school preschool when I am told (seriously I cant even remover what I did yesterday) I would ask the teachers to pray for the soldiers in desert storm, I wrote letters to Bill Clinton in grade school to try to protect the spotted owl's home from loggers, and in hs i was the obnoxious student who always tried to start petitions. My dolls were never my babies, my barbie was a foreign war corespondent who never had time for ken. I love A more than anything, but stay at home wife was something I never saw myself doing. This blog is a way for me to chronicle my adventures as mistress of the house while at the same time hopefully receiving some help from other reluctant housewives. Whatever I do, I try to do well, even if this isn't where I saw my life being five years ago, I am going to excel and kick ass at it.
